A veteran broadcaster, Thomas began her communications career as a disc jockey in 1974. She worked the major markets, including New York, Detroit and Miami.

Soon afterwards she landed the prestigious position as host of the morning show on 94.7 KTWV The WAVE in Los Angeles. It was there that Oscar producer Gil Cates and director Jeff Margolis

Thomas has announced the Oscars seven times since then (including the 80th Annual Academy Awards®, and with the 59th Annual Tony Awards last June, she marked her fifth turn at the mike in five years for the American Theatre Wing event.

Equally at home in television or radio as she is at live versus taped events, Thomas has worked specials for all the major television networks and currently provides the imaging voice for radio stations WLTW (New York), WASH (Washington, DC), WNIC (Detroit), WRRM (Cincinnati), WJYE (Buffalo), K-Hits (Portland), and CHFI (Toronto).

Emmy producer Don Mischer says Thomas "... can make an event compelling and important without overstatement or hype. We’ve worked with her many times and she’s terrific with live television events."

Thomas can be heard on the Disney Channel talking to pre-schoolers as the voice of Playhouse Disney’s Project Playtime and Bill Cosby’s "Kids Say the Darndest Things," currently in syndication.

Between jetting back and forth from Hollywood’s Kodak Theater and New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Thomas manages to find time to conduct hands-on voiceover workshops in New York, Los Angeles, and Florida. She teaches students how to "read promos like the pros," as she says, drawing not only from her experience narrating numerous film trailers and television promos but from her 20-year reign as the voice of the popular "Hooked on Phonics" home study series and its radio advertising ("Call 1-800-A-B-C-D-E-F-G").

Thomas is also an author. She and colleague Peter Rofe wrote "Voice For Hire: How to Launch and Maintain a Lucrative Career in Voice-overs."
